If you have seen my instagram you know about my most recent obsession. It is actually uncomfortable how much I love smoothie bowls. I have one almost every morning, I plan them the night before and I wake up thinking about them...
I have been asked tons about how I make these and it is actually super easy. You can really do any smoothie and just put stuff on top of it but I have a specific way I do mine.
I like a creamy texture so my basic recipe for the smoothie is
(1) two frozen bananas
(2) some other kind of fruit to give it the flavour, usually around 1 cup
(3) agave nectar, about 2 tbsp
* If you're unsure what agave is, it is a natural sweetener made from a cactus plant. It sounds weird but it is really good for you and it tastes AMAZING in smoothies. *
Sometimes if I am not feeling well I will add an extra boost, I will add a superfood like:
- chlorella - spirulina - maca - cacoa - kale -
After I finish the basic smoothie I just pour it in a bowl and then add the toppings:
I start by adding some sort of fruit I can get creative with, for example strawberries, watermelon, black berries, or guava.
Then I add my other smaller toppings, some good options are:
- hemp hearts
- bee pollen
- shredded coconut
- sun flower seeds, or really any seeds
- dried fruit
- quinoa puffs/flakes
- mulberries
I am not fully, nor will I ever expect to be a raw vegan. But I do think that these are a great way to start the day. They give you an insane amount of pure, raw energy and they taste reallllly good. Sometimes just knowing that I have accomplished making one of these beautiful bowls will make my morning.
Anyways, thanks for reading the first post of my blog!
