PURPLE THINGS THAT ARE GOOD FOR YOU!
Acai Bowls
- I have been a little obsessed with these bad boys for awhile now. It seems like every Australian instagramer that I follow eats these every day! I have tried the frozen Acai berry packs that I have found at some of the higher end health food grocery stores, but they were expensive and I found the texture pretty gross.
- Alas, I found some acai berry powder at the local bulk barn... it was still pretty expensive, but you don't need to use much of it and it actually tastes good.
Ingredients:
- 4 tbsp acai berry powder
- 3 frozen bananas
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 2 tbsp agave/maple syrup/coconut nectar (or which ever sweetener you use)
- dash of water when needed
- which ever fruit/ toppings you would like to add
- I used:
- kiwi
- pumpkin seeds (raw)
- millet puffs
- goji berries
Method:
- Take out the frozen bananas and slice them into little coins (to make it easier to blend)
- add the bananas, mango, acai powder and agave into your blender
- blend until smooth- may have to add water as you are blending, i like mine creamy, so i add less- the more water you add the thinner it will be - it's up to you
- pour into a bowl and add your toppings
side note: my skin has been broken out for awhile now for no reason apparent to me - this is what lead me to the acai bowls and the goji berries- I want to up my antioxidant content in what I eat in hopes that this will help... and honestly it has been - I also find that drinking a ton of water (2L) and eating raw sauerkraut (random i know) has helped my skin issues :)
